About Barbara Gayle Ancira


Barbara Gayl Ancira was born and raised in the Lone Star State, born in Dallas, living as a young child in San Antonio and spending her formative years along the border in Laredo,Texas. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1984, she worked for the Environmental Protection Agency and a major petroleum consulting firm before entering law school at the University of Houston on a full academic scholarship.

Barbara obtained her law degree from the University of Houston. In her last year of law school, Barbara had the opportunity to go back to Austin and attend UT Law School as a visiting student. There she worked with families going through difficulties with Legal Aid of Central Texas through the child advocacy clinic with The University of Texas Law School.This experience prompted her to find her true calling in the area of family law and criminal law.

After obtaining her license to practice law in The State of Texas both in State court and Federal court in January 1992, she formed a law firm, Anderson and Ancira, P.C. and represented hundreds of clients in Travis County before moving to where she now resides in Bulverde, Texas in 1998.

The focus of her practice has been to provide quality representation with a common sense approach for persons facing life changing events involving their families and children.

Barbara has experienced divorce and is now remarried with a son who was born in 1999.
